Declawing is the amputation (de-knuckling) of the bone which grows and supports the cat's claw.
It is our belief this is not in the best interest of the kitten/cat and does not support their health and wellbeing.
This surgical procedure has physical and emotional consequences often resulting in:
Increased biting
Litter box issues
Becoming distrustful of their owner/veterinarian
Becoming less social and fearful
Later life health issues may arise including arthritis and lameness
We strongly suggest alternatives such as claw clipping,
scratching posts, nail caps and/or sticky paws.
You can find more information about declawing
at The Paw Project.
