Domestic Short Hair (short coat) : : Female : : Young : : Medium
Hi! My name is Selene. I’m so happy to finally be ready for adoption! I’ve been with the shelter since Christmas. Many dedicated volunteers have worked tirelessly to get me where I am today. I was found cold and starving under a bush on Christmas Day. Some very kind souls brought me to the Humane Society so I could get the help I needed. I was approximately 6-8 months old at that time but weighed under 2 lbs – I was severely underweight. My first dedicated foster mom took me in and, among many things, hydrated me with fluids and fed me so I could begin to gain weight. After I was stable and headed in a positive direction, I went on to my next foster home for socialization and to continue to gain weight. At my 2nd (current) foster home, I have been healthy enough to thrive! Stressful situations, like moving homes, causes me to have a lot of anxiety and overgroom myself. I have been spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations and tested negative for fiv/FeLV. I’ve been with my foster family for two and a half months now. I’ve really made myself at home! I still get along well with all the other cats and dogs in the house. One of the resident cats is a young adult and I like to run and play with her. The noisy boys don’t bother me one bit! I enjoy being around my foster family and have finally learned to enjoy some attention from people! I am doing better about being held for short amounts of time. At bedtime, I like to sleep on or next to my foster mom’s legs for a couple hours. I’ve gotten so comfortable at my foster home that I’ve stopped overgrooming and have gorgeous, shiny black fur now, with a white patch on my chest. I know it will take me a little extra time to adjust to a new home, but I am really hoping for a forever home of my own! Please contact the shelter to arrange a meeting with me. Unfortunately, I will be very nervous and unhappy while there, but please know that this is not how I will be in my own home. My foster family would be happy to show you videos of me happily running and playing at my foster home so you can get a glimpse of my normal personality
